See You at the KTRU Outdoor Show this Saturday: And Now a Throwback Mix By Brother Roo

This weekend will be great, as we truck on down to Rice and enjoy the Outdoor Show with our homies. We are hyped to see Wild Mocassins, Chairlift, Slim Thug and all the bands set to rip. Truth be told, Rice radio has been a big part of our H-Town experience , even since moving here in ’94. From avid listener, to helping my bro Roo’s as he mixed on-air, and now helping as a sponsor, we truly are grateful for KTRU’s influence, and opportunites. As changes pass, we encourage our firends to continue supporting this resource as it enriches our ear drums and adapts deftly to a new world that technology facilitates and necessitates.

Looking back, Roo and I decided to post this live, uncut mix from ’98. Archived on cassette, via FM dub, and blanded on alanog turntables/mixer, it is nice postcard from the past, and a reminder of how different our sound consumption might be in 20 years. We hope you get a kick out of it, and enjoy. Again, Outdoor Show is Free and Fun, and turning 21. See You There!

Come, Sail Away at Southside: Skate Film Premiere Nov. 5th 2011 @ 8PM

John Danielson communicates a rider’s personality and character in ways that confound most skate videographers. He clearly picks which riders he will shoot, and chooses to show what skateboarding is, rather than just play back what skaters did on any given shoot. He captures an unashamed enthusiasm and excitement about skateboarding that is set out like a big middle finger to the uptight regimented world of hardcore or extreme sporting. I will forever be a fan of his, for letting the fun shine through.

See for yourself on Saturday, or be a good economic stimulator and cop the DVD, or two.

Full Disclosure: Brown Clown rides for SK808 (We love that guy!)

Save the Date: EZ-7 Turkey Jam 2011!
